Hey there! Thanks for clicking in….

Home is in the west suburbs of Chicago with my husband, of 25 years, Dave.  Dave has his own business (since 1978) here in town, J. David Schmidt & Associates, a consulting firm that specializes in strategic and visionary thinking for charitable and non-profit organizations. Dave likes adventures, being outdoors, fishing, hiking and being on the Advisory Board of Honey Rock Camp. Dave is my God-given gift, expressing confidence in me, challenging me to take next steps in life and peeling me off the ceiling when necessay – which he does very well!

Kelly, is at home working and headed back to college in January, 2011. She’ll be a Junior and is going to invite me to the Oscars when she wins one for her screenplay someday! I love watching Kelly interact with people, her goal to show them God loves them. I learn a lot from this precious woman.

Our son, Kevin, is a Freshman at Lipscomb University in Nashville. He’s loving it! Kevin enjoys the outdoors, is fearless (fueling a mother’s prayers!) and outgoing. He is all energy. I look forward to his latest adventures at all times. He brings our family his optimistic spirit and laid back attitude – a gift to the other three of us Type A’s.

Me ? Give me a book to read and I’m happy. Creating with my craft supplies – cards , collages and other experiments brings me a lot of joy. I wish I had more time to cook, clean and de-clutter – I’m happy when I do them. But after a day at work and commuting…nah. I treasure journaling and reading books on the spiritual journey. I like to write. I like to spend the first of the day musing in bed and dreaming and looking out at the tree outside my bedroom window. My most creative moments are those. I get a kick out of the birds at our birdfeeder and love summer mornings on our deck looking out at smooth, green grass in those quiet moments. Bliss. Pizza is the food of the gods and bottles of Izzie are their drink!

Our family brings a lot to the table; things are never boring or still in our home. Sometimes it’s exhausting and I often remark, “Never a dull moment!” It’s what makes quiet so precious and valued to me. The upside is that we try to call it as we see it and we talk a lot about everything.

What else do you want to know? Write to me at my Contact page …and tell me about you! What brings you joy – what are some of your favorite things – your hobbies – what you wish you had more time to do?

Check out my Events page to learn about a cool thing Dave and I are going to do in February!
